Japan, the 12th century. Katsuro was the best fisherman in the entire empire, but that didn’t save him from death. He supplied carp to the imperial city ponds, which gave him a special position. Now his young widow Miyuki must replace him and deliver to the emperor the remaining carp after her husband. She will have to make a journey of several hundred kilometers through forests and mountains, avoiding storms and earthquakes, facing attacks by robbers and betrayal by companions, and fighting water monsters and people’s cruelty.
And only the memory of happy moments with Katsuro in the past will give Miyuki the strength to overcome obstacles and carry her burden to the Service of Gardens and Waterways.
