This story began long ago, when a large country was shaken by convulsions of revolution and civil war. A fugitive white officer, by the will of fate, ended up in Europe. His wife and underage daughter stayed in the Union, and there was not the slightest chance to find out what happened to them.

The daughter of the fugitive grew up, hiding her origin. When the opportunity arose, she escaped to Germany with a Soviet scientist, hiding under other people’s names. She met a Russian runaway working for the Abwehr, and began a romance with him. Not long before the war, their paths diverged.

A German spy with Russian roots often remembered the woman who had, unwittingly, become a traitor. He loved her, but to be together… Providence scattered him into one of the camps at the heart of Europe. Who could have imagined that there he would meet the fugitive white officer who once left behind a small daughter in Russia?

Sometimes history unfolds in an instant. What can be said about the turns people’s destinies make over the course of a hundred years.
