A novel set during wartime, about complicated destinies and dangerous work by unknown heroes who are included in the elite roster of the “NKVD Beria special forces.” The fascists plan to create their own secret naval bases in Soviet Arctic regions. If they succeed, their submarines will become a serious threat to our rear.
A group led by Major Maxim Shelestov is tasked with inspecting the coastline and studying the available information about a possible appearance of Germans there. Maxim finds out that the fascists really landed in the specified area and even managed to compile a detailed map of convenient bays and channels. It is known that with its help, they intend to penetrate one of the Soviet bases soon and seize fuel for their submarine.
The major decides to meet the “guests” with a deadly surprise…
"This series is good because it carries the correct main idea: in the NKVD of Lavrenty Beria, they knew how to trust people, because the commissar himself knew how to trust. The story of Major Shelestov’s group is similar to the real story of a high-ranking Abwehr agent—former staff captain of the tsarist army Nelidov—who ended up on Lubyanka in September 1939. Against the backdrop of Nelidov’s story, Maxim Shelestov’s adventures and those of his comrades described in this novel seem even more plausible." — S. Kremlinov
