Valerio Massimo Manfredi is a well-known Italian historian, archaeologist, writer, screenwriter, and journalist who took part in the expedition “Anabasis.” His historically themed works brought him prestigious awards, including the “Man of the Year” prize from the American Biographical Institute, the Hemingway Prize, and the Bancarella Prize. One of his works, “The Last Legion,” served as the basis for a Hollywood film featuring Colin Firth, Aishwarya Rai, and Ben Kingsley.
