Anastasia Strokina’s "The Owl Wolf" is an engaging musical philosophical fairy tale by a wonderful children’s writer.
At the heart of the plot is the story of a small heroine—the pilot’s daughter living in a military town in the far North. The girl has no friends, and on polar nights she is especially sad. The main character meets a fictional character—a owl wolf, Bubo—who becomes her friend and tells her about the world around, answers the most important and difficult questions that adults can’t answer. The wolf shares his knowledge about the origin of islands. He muses about evil human weapons, about radiation and submarines lying on the bottom of the northern seas, and about his friend Papako—the amazing bird that can dive into icy water and is completely unafraid of brutal winds. From the piercing book "The Owl Wolf," children learn not only incredibly interesting facts about the surrounding world, but also how to be resilient in a world where sometimes "cruel winds" blow. A gentle musical arrangement adds extra atmosphere to the mysterious world of the northern nature in this simultaneously childlike and adult novella.
