Solo for a Chiming Clock

Solo for a Chiming Clock

1 hr. 45 min.
Description
A legendary performance with the participation of old masters of the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT), staged by Oleg Efremov. In 1974 it was an “edge-of-life” piece—now it’s already gone…
The play’s heroes are old men who gather on Fridays at their friend Abel’s place—a retired lift operator. This is where real life begins, which they don’t live to see but live through with such brilliance that young people still need to learn it.
The performance is interesting not only because it is played by leading actors of the older generation, but also because it addresses a problem resolved within it: what values can we pass on to those who come after us—our children, grandchildren?
“Solo for a Clock with Striking” is an unusually touching and funny, lyrical and tragic search for an answer to the question: “What, then, is happiness?”
