The Indian man Soya has a close friend—Dakota MacDonough, the daughter of a rich farmer. Sometimes she shows up with bruises, but others prefer to ignore it. Soya, however, notices everything, because Dakota trusts him. At some point, Soya decided he couldn’t keep tolerating it anymore.
