Modern-day St. Petersburg. After a mysterious epidemic, all mammals have died out—only birds, reptiles, insects, and fish remain. An elderly professor gives lectures about OBЭРИУ. Sonya, Katya, Arina, Vanya, Kostya, and Tema are friends, fall in love, travel to the sea, and share a communal apartment. Philology students stage a reconstruction of the OBЭРИУ poetic evening “Three Left Hours.”
