Yunna Petrovna Moritz was born on June 2, 1937, in Kyiv. She graduated from the Literary Institute named after A. M. Gorky, lives in Moscow. She is best known as an author of children’s poems. Everyone knows her “Big Secret for a Small Company.” Many songs have been written to Yunna Moritz’s poems. In her books she often appears also as a wonderful artist; for example, the collection “By Law—Greetings to the Postman” includes not only 290 of her poems, but also 230 paintings and graphic works. Among Moritz’s remarkable adult books are “In the Den of the Voice” (1990), “Face” (2000), “Thus” (2000), “By Law—Greetings to the Postman” (2005), and “Skvozero” (2014).
Books for children have also been published: “Big Secret for a Small Company” (1987), “Bouquet of Cats” (1997), “The Roof Went Home” (2010). Yunna Moritz’s poems have been translated into all European languages, as well as into Japanese and Chinese.
