The action of the brilliant phantasmagoria by Mikhail Bulgakov, offered to you in Dmitry Bykov’s performance, takes place in the 1920s in Soviet Russia. The well-known Moscow professor Philip Filippovich Preobrazhensky decides to carry out an experiment: transplanting the seed glands and pituitary gland of the dead drunken bum and hooligan Klim Chugunkin into the sweet dog Sharik, found on the street. The experiment succeeds in making him more human—but, alas, it fails. Instead of a kind dog, a hideous, dull, and aggressive creature appears: Poligraph Poligraphovich Sharikov, who inherited from his “donor” only the worst traits.
The audiobook also includes a lecture—a fascinating story by Dmitry Bykov about the book he has just read.
