It wasn’t by chance that Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Oleg Chukhontsev, and Yevgeny Rein called Boris Slutsky a great poet, and that Joseph Brodsky believed he began writing poetry after reading Boris Slutsky.
This collection includes both practically textbook—well-known masterpieces of the poet—some of which are published for the first time without censorship edits and previously introduced typos. It also contains a selection of unpublished poems that were published in periodicals by the poet’s devoted assistant Y. L. Boldyrev, but were not included in any of his books. And it includes a selection of poems found in the archives and published in periodicals in 2017–2018.
