Confusion of Feelings

A new student arrives in the university town. He meets an English literature professor. He rents an apartment above the professor’s.

He begins to help the professor as a secretary while writing a monograph about the Shakespearean theater “Globe.” The professor (gay) begins to feel not just sympathy for the young man, but he doesn’t dare take any step toward getting closer. The young man, in turn, becomes very attached to the professor, falls in love with him, but is afraid to admit it to himself. Society condemns homosexuality and ridicules the professor. And when the young man finally realizes what is happening, he runs away. He says goodbye to the professor and leaves the city. He gets married. But all his life he remembers his only and true love.
