Look at Yourself

“To look at yourself just once, and then again, and again…—this is the movement from an endless process of self-description to an endless adventure of self-exploration.” Right now, right here, look at yourself with your inner sight. See if, while you are reading this, you can catch at the edge of your eye the mere flicker of a feeling of yourself—your selfhood—your deep and fundamental ordinariness. If you do this consciously just once, there is no doubt you will do it again… and again… and again… And in the end a day will come—no matter what you are doing or not doing, regardless of what is happening to you or not happening—when you notice that the deep fear of life is no longer there: the old false idea about your nature evaporates on contact with the reality of your nature.
