In the summer of 1960, Fred Trump’s heir appeared in the Trump Management office. Together with his father, he took part in all the major projects, attended Democratic Party meetings, and visited charity receptions—where he learned how to do business and make important connections. But it wasn’t Donald. It was the older son, Freddy, named after his father.

The head of the family didn’t notice Donald and didn’t bet on him. But several years passed, the memory of the eldest son faded from the company’s history, and his place was taken by the man we now know as the President of the United States.
