“The Blind Owl” is considered the main work of the famous Iranian writer Sadegh Hedayat. Begun during his studies in France and completed almost ten years later in India, this novella tells the story of a broken-hearted artist. He is tormented by dreams in which a shadow of an owl appears, and strange characters invade his life—figures resembling messengers from the beyond: a woman with deep eyes and an old dervish with a piercing laugh. This surrealistic work quickly gained recognition in Europe and became a benchmark of 20th-century Iranian literature.
This edition also includes Hedayat’s stories: “The Stray Acol,” “Tomorrow…,” “The Patriot,” “Haji Morad,” and the satirical play “The Legend of the Creation of the World.”
