Description

1944. The Red Army liberates Ukraine. The Hitlerite forces do everything they can to hold on to the occupied territory. To lure the advancing Soviet units into a trap, the Germans set up false positions in one section of the front. The enemy’s plan is uncovered by foot reconnaissance—but its report contradicts aerial photography. The operational department of the front insists that there is no ambush and that the offensive can proceed. Figuring out the situation is assigned to Captain SМЕРШ Timofey Romantsev. He concludes: someone at the front headquarters is deliberately distorting the real state of affairs. The first suspect is found shot dead in a forest near the front line. Romantsev understands that he’s following the right trail—and the traitor is somewhere nearby…
