Description
In the difficult years after the war, reception-and-distribution centers were organized across the country to help children who had been left without parents. In one such institution works Kolka Pozharsky, an assistant master.
On that fateful day, everyone was waiting for payday, but the cashier didn’t arrive on time. Kolka found her mortally wounded at the entrance to the main building and noticed a man running away in the distance. Pozharsky immediately chased him, but during the pursuit the robber suddenly threw himself under a train, and the money bag vanished.
Kolka could have been accused of robbery and murder of the cashier—if not for the unexpected and even more horrifying truth about this crime that opened up to the officers during the investigation.
