The book “Tales about Life and Everyday Life of the Russian People” is intended for a wide range of readers interested in Russian national traditions. In the form of tales, the author leads the reader through the thick of time and historical events (from ancient times of the 10th century up to the beginning of the 20th century), thereby opening a unique opportunity to enter an integral world of Russian culture, to understand the sacred meaning of holidays, rituals, and everyday objects. The author does not set out to provide a documentary description, comprehensive and complete, of all ancient Rus’ realities. Key themes were chosen about details of Russian everyday life; the author shows fragments of the family structure of a Russian person, and the features of rituals and customs of our ancestors. The book is based on the idea of the ritual nature of the life of Rus’ people and the symbolism of their thinking.
