Description
Many researchers have concluded that it would be more appropriate to group “One Thousand and One Nights” by time of creation or by the social milieu in which they were told, at least conditionally, rather than strictly by geographic principle. To the oldest, earliest tales of the collection—possibly already existing in one form or another in the first editions of the 9th–10th centuries—we can attribute those stories in which the element of fantasy is most strongly expressed and supernatural beings actively intervene in people’s affairs.
