Description
The dividing of the fairy-tale text into nights happened at the last stage of processing, when the stories ended up in the hands of a compiler who compiled yet another collection of “A Thousand and One Nights.” In the absence of enough material for the required number of “nights,” the compiler supplemented it with written sources—not only borrowing short stories and anecdotes, but also long chivalric romances.
