Helheim in Scandinavian mythology is the world of the dead, ruled by the giantess Hel. The world of people—what medieval Scandinavians called the Middle World, Midgard—has in recent years become suspiciously similar to the world of the dead.
But we are still here, trying as best we can to stay alive. And those who live in Helheim, like any people, have their folklore. In particular, tales, legends, and myths. They are needed so as not to forget what life is like.
