Since the 18th century, homegrown enthusiasts have been researching and categorizing the beliefs of mysterious ancient Slavs. This volume brings together three well-known works centered on gods, demons, and spirits—their close connection to nature and their ability to influence people. "Ancient Religion of the Slavs," prepared by the philologist, translator, and state councilor Grigory Andreevich Glinka (1776—1818), "The Unclean, Unknown, and Crossed Power" by the writer-ethnographer Sergey Vasilyevich Maksimov (1831—1901), and "Deities of the Ancient Slavs," compiled by the composer Alexander Sergeyevich Faminzin (1841—1896). For the dust jacket design, fragments of paintings by artist Konstantin Alekseyevich Vasilyev (1942—1976) are used.
