Tale of a True Friend is a story about the adventures of boys from a prehistoric tribe of Tazh, who could live in the foothills of Tian Shan and on the steppes of Central Asia in ancient times of the Neolithic.
Of course, this tale about Lan, Mun, Zurra, and their wolf friend is fiction, fantasy—but this fantasy is based on facts and scientific premises. Even the main role in the story—given to the boys who tamed a wolf cub—is based on a scientist’s hypothesis. In the wise and kind book by K. Lorenz, "Man Finds a Friend," the idea is expressed that in ancient times children were the first to tame a dog. By playing and entertaining wolf pups brought by hunters into their dwelling, they taught the wild animal to live with people and serve them. And people themselves learned to value canine friendship and loyalty.
