Description
England, 1948. Clara Newton sends her résumé to the children’s home “Shilling Grange” and—unexpectedly for herself and for all the residents—becomes its new director. Many of her charges are without families; their lives are torn apart by the war, just as Clara’s life is. The war took her fiancé—a military pilot.

But now the orphans desperately need her help, and Clara struggles to bear their suffering—yet what she fears most is that she might not be able to cope.

Next door lives an orphan from the home and a war hero, Ivor. He doesn’t trust Clara, but he gets along well with the children. With his support and help, Clara starts to find her own way.

Will she endure all the trials?

And will she dare to open her heart to love again?

For fans of the books and films “The Pianist,” “Schindler’s List,” “Life is Beautiful,” “The Book Lover and Potato Peel Pie Society,” and “The Secret Garden.”
