Nabo's Blue Book

Description
After the devastating End of Civilization, Rowenna, Dylan, and Mona are left as the only residents near the village of Nebo. Dylan, a fourteen-year-old boy, loves books and gardening, while Mona has only just begun to walk. Rowenna, the mother of two children, tries to cope with life’s hardships by remembering the times when she worked in a beauty salon and bought groceries at a supermarket. Now she farms the land, sets traps for game, and dreams of a Bounty bar—the taste of which she can’t forget.

One day they find a notebook in an abandoned house and decide to keep a diary, taking turns and not reading each other’s entries. They hope that someday someone will read these notes and feel some relief. They call this diary “The Blue Book of Nebo.”

The story told in “The Blue Book of Nebo” not only depicts survival in a changed world, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road,” but also reveals the touching relationship between a mother and her son, which became the only support for each other.
