The beloved student of Sheldon, Tillie Bagshaw, presents her own version of the plot of the legendary thriller “Wound the Mask.”
The famous psychotherapist becomes the target of a mysterious killer—this was the plot of the legendary thriller by Sidney Sheldon “Wound the Mask,” first published in 1970 and bringing the writer international fame. And now Sheldon’s favorite student Tillie Bagshaw presents her own version of that plot.
Los Angeles is shaken by a series of brutal murders. The only thing all the victims have in common is that they all knew the psychotherapist Nikki Roberts. And very soon Nikki realizes that the killer’s main goal—kept “for dessert”—is doomed to be her…
A cunning criminal is constantly one step ahead of the police. Realizing that she will have to defend herself, Nikki turns to the private detective Derek Williams for help.
From the performer: What an interesting thing this turned out to be… For the first time I’ve encountered a concept like “literary remake.” The author of this novel is Matilda “Tillie” Bagshaw, a young writer who likes Sidney Sheldon. Though it’s not certain. Maybe it’s the opposite. Personally, I like the idea that she set out to prove that from—well, from anything at all—one can make candy  The result: she wrote several novels where the plot is taken from Sheldon (the source is stated right in the title), and the “arrangement” is completely different. If we keep the musical analogy for those who are over “chо,” then the prototype is recorded like a duet of “Baccara” or Donna Summer, and the cover is a band like “Scorpions” )). In short, I admit I don’t really like Sheldon, although it happened that I ended up voicing exactly this novel “Wound the Mask.” It’s very sweet, very caramel. The remake, however, turned out alive and energetic—no worse, for example, than the novels of Grange, Björk, or Cole from my repertoire. So: don’t trust the cover—neither the marmalade-glamour picture, nor even the title with huge letters SIDNEY SHELDON and at the very bottom, in small and barely noticeable letters, Tillie Bagshaw, will tell you the truth. This is a strong modern detective thriller about maniacs. Do you like Scandinavian writers? Then listen.
And…
