Description
Julius is a successful psychotherapist, a decent family man, and—on the whole—a happy person. But the next scheduled checkup shatters the calm of his life. An elderly man is told of a terrifying diagnosis and given at most a year to finish everything…

The psychotherapist decides to deal with former clients in which his treatment ended in failure. One of the patients was a certain Philip. Contacting him, Julius learns that Philip handled his problem with the help of Schopenhauer’s philosophy. Now he plans to become a psychoanalyst himself, bringing to the masses an unusual method of healing. Philip asks his former doctor for supervision. But Julius is sure that Philip didn’t defeat the problem—he only drove it deeper into the depths of the mind. Julius agrees to help the client only on the condition that Philip attends group psychotherapy sessions with him for a while. And then the story unfolds about nine participants in this group, interwoven with facts from the biography of Arthur Schopenhauer.

Will Philip manage to admit that his beliefs are false? Or will he convince the others of the correctness of the well-known misanthropic philosopher? To find out, read online or download Irvin Yalom’s novel “Schopenhauer as a Remedy” in the LitRes service of e-books and audiobooks!
