The Ardis audio studio presents one of Alexander Dumas’s earliest historical novels, “The Chevalier d’Armantal,” published in the second half of 1841 through the beginning of 1842. The novel’s plot is based on real historical events. The action begins on March 22, 1718: the young nobleman Chevalier Raoul d’Armantal, by the will of fate, finds himself drawn into the conspiracy of the Duchess of Maine (the wife of the illegitimate son of King Louis XIV) against the Regent of France during the minority of King Louis XV—the Duke of Orléans.
