Kervud’s first stories were printed while he was still a teenager, but he didn’t receive a fee for them. In his short life, he wrote more than 30 novels. The most well-known of them are: “Kazan,” “The Grizzly,” “Scouts of the North,” and “Son of Kazan.” His novels continue the best traditions of European-American adventure literature, in particular the works by Jack London about the North. The main heroes of his novels are wild animals in the wild (wolves, dogs, bears, and others). Several novels were translated into Russian by Mikhail Chekhov, the brother of the writer Anton Chekhov.
