The heroes of the novel “The Silver Wedding” are preparing to celebrate a landmark event—the twenty-five years of married life of Deirdre and Desmond Doyle. Three of the Doyles’ children, as well as relatives and friends, are expected to take part in the celebration. Each hero of the novel has their own complicated life, their own problems, their own long-held resentments, secrets, and joys. The Doyles’ silver wedding makes everyone look back into the past, reconsider many things, and evaluate the present in a new way.
