St. Ives

The novel “Saint-Yves” is based on the story of the French nobleman Kerouel de Saint-Yves, who, during the Napoleonic wars, ended up imprisoned by the English. Key events of the hero’s odyssey—masterfully presented by the author—include a chance meeting with the beauty Flora, escape from an Edinburgh prison, wandering adventures full of dangers, return to Paris, a happy wedding, and… a voluntary return to the country of his captivity.
