Heinrich Harrer (1912–2006) was an Austrian mountaineer, traveler, and writer. His book “Seven Years in Tibet: My Life at the Court of the Dalai Lama,” first published in German in 1952, was translated into 53 languages and became the basis for two films: the 1956 British documentary film and the famous 1997 American feature film starring Brad Pitt as the lead. Thanks to this real Russian edition, readers in Russia will впервые get acquainted with the full text of Heinrich Harrer’s book, translated from German. The author’s tone and text structure have been carefully preserved.
