Russia has always played a key role on the international stage. But the country’s foreign policy, as a rule, reflects the internal processes taking place within it.
With changes of rulers, our nation’s political course also changed, which led to fundamental shifts in the foreign ministry’s work. This could be seen both in appointing a new minister and in changing work priorities. New, more flexible diplomatic approaches were needed to solve global problems.
In this book, the author shows the history of the development of diplomacy—from the beginning of the 1950s to the present day—based not only on the perspective of the Russian Foreign Ministry staff themselves, but also on the perspective of their foreign colleagues. Moreover, the author includes texts from personal conversations with ministers and direct participants in the events.
