Vladimir (Zeев) Zhabotinsky (1880–1940) was a famous Jewish writer, poet, translator, educator, and public figure who played a significant role in the Zionist movement. He was born and for a long time lived in Odessa, received his education at the University of Bern and the University of Rome. He wrote mainly in Russian and Hebrew. From 1920 to 1940 he lived and worked in Palestine and Western Europe, and in 1940 moved to the United States, where he soon died.
This novel is a brilliant version of the famous plot from the Book of Judges: the story of a man of extraordinary physical and spiritual strength, who performed great deeds and became the victim of betrayal.
