Ivan Kondratyev (1849–1904) — Russian historian, Moscow studies specialist, poet, songwriter, writer, translator. Darya Nikolayevna Saltykova, nicknamed Saltychikha and “the Cannibal” (1730–1801), was a Russian wealthy landowner known in history as a sophisticated sadist and serial killer—whose killing of 138 of the serfs under her control was proven. In 1768, by decision of the Senate and Empress Catherine II, she was deprived of the dignity of hereditary nobility and sentenced to death, but later the punishment was changed to life imprisonment in a monastery prison, where the condemned woman eventually died.
