Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Zinoviev (1922–2006) is an outstanding sociologist, social philosopher, and writer. Before the period of perestroika, Zinoviev was one of the most prominent critics of the Soviet system and belonged to the ranks of well-known dissidents—he was expelled from the USSR. In his later works, he assessed the destruction of the Soviet system extremely negatively.
In the book “The Russian Tragedy,” recorded at the “Ardis” studio, Aleksandr Zinoviev conducted a comprehensive analysis of one of the most tragic periods in the history of our country—when “mass betrayal by the ruling party apparatus” led to the collapse of the great state, the Soviet Union, and its liquidation. Here, too, the author reflects on Russia’s future, the dangers of globalism, and prospects for world development.
