The story is built according to the conventions of the “women’s romance”: the heroines are dazzlingly attractive and utterly unlike one another, while the heroes are intelligent, strong, courageous, and commanding. These are proud and passionate people, capable of deep feelings, and in the end, love proves stronger than pride… Fate throws Elizabeth Werner’s characters into difficult, sometimes tragic trials, but justice prevails, and, as is customary for the genre, everything ends with a happy ending.
