A Christmas Tale

The most beautiful sermon today was delivered for the holiday by our village priest.

— Many centuries ago, — he said, — on this very day Truth came into the world.
Truth is eternal. Before all ages, it sat beside Christ-the Lover of Mankind at the father’s right hand; together with Him, it took embodiment and kindled its light on earth. It stood at the foot of the cross and suffered together with Christ; it sat, in the form of a radiant angel, at his tomb and witnessed his resurrection. And when the Lover of Mankind ascended to heaven, He left Truth on earth as a living testimony of His unchanging goodwill toward the human race.
