Elected to the Russian throne in 1613, Mikhail Fyodorovich laid the foundation for one of the most significant dynasties in Russian history—the House of Romanov. “The Romanovs. The History of a Great Dynasty” is an incredibly captivating journey through the history of Russia from the 17th century to the early 20th century. Peter the Great’s reforms, the abolition of serfdom, the flourishing of culture and science during the Enlightenment, the decline of the monarchy and the subsequent Revolution of 1917—as well as many other key events—are reflected in the book. The author, screenwriter, and candidate of historical sciences Marina Bandilenko carried out a unique work rewriting the script of the popular documentary series “Romanovs,” supplementing it with new interesting facts and quotations from historical sources that never made it to the screen.
