Julius Fučík, the well-known Czechoslovak journalist and anti-fascist, wrote “Report from a Noose Around the Neck” in Pankrác prison in the spring of 1943. He sent the readers evidence of his survival in conditions of isolation, physical and moral abuse, betrayal, and faith in the victory of good over evil. The book was delivered from prison in parts and published by his wife after his release from a concentration camp. “Report from a Noose Around the Neck” was translated into more than 90 languages and inspired thousands of people to fight against a dictatorial regime.
