In all of U.S. history, only four federal judges have been killed. Recently, the list added a fifth—Raymond Fawcett.
The judge’s body and the corpse of his secretary were found in a lakeside cabin, and there were no signs of forced entry or struggle. Moreover, in the cabin they found an open safe—empty, wide open.
Who killed Fawcett and why? And what was kept in the safe?
Only one person, it seems, knows the answers to these questions—Malcolm Bannister, a prisoner at a camp in the state of Maryland, a former lawyer convicted for something he didn’t do.
Bannister is ready to help the FBI agents by providing information. But for his assistance, he demands far too much. And what’s more, it’s unclear whether he can be trusted at all…
