Paolo Bacigalupi is an American science-fiction writer publishing since 1999. The genres he works in are predominantly science fiction with a post-apocalyptic bent, as well as fantasy. He was born in the town of Paonia in the western part of Colorado, studied Chinese at the Ohio State University, and then spent several years in Asia. His works carry the imprint of the cultures of the countries he visited—just as vivid as the noir imprint that fills modern U.S. life.
