Stories of the Great Patriotic War

The collection includes stories by Soviet front-line writers and military correspondents about the power of the soldiers’ character. These pages reflect the feat of scouts (“The Star”), a sense of duty to battle comrades (“Leave for Wounded”), and the unbending will of workers and underground fighters in occupied territories (“The Unyielding”). And stories of how the atrocities of fascists sparked hatred toward the enemy (“The Science of Hatred”), how courage protects from a bullet (“The Third Adjutant”), and how love of loved ones gives strength (“The Russian Character”) have long become classics.

In the design of this limited edition of the series “Bright Pages,” a fragment of a map showing the directions of combat strikes of 1944–1945 and the star of the Red Army (RKKA) are used.
