Besides her famous novella, Shcherbakova has written more than 20 books, including the novellas and novels “A Door into Another Life,” “Desperate Autumn,” “Actress and a Policeman,” “The Army of Lovers,” “At the Feet of Lying Women,” “The Seed of an Avocado,” “Details of Small Feelings,” “Mitya’s Love,” “Molotov’s Bed,” “Don’t Be Afraid! Maria Ganzovna Has Already Passed Away,” “The Joys of Life,” “The Ascent to the Hill of King Solomon with a Stroller and a Bicycle,” and others. In recent years she was working on a new novel—it remained unfinished.
Shcherbakova’s prose has always attracted filmmakers. Based on her works, feature films were made: “Two and One” (the story “Uncle Khlor and Koryakin”), “The Boy and the Girl” (the eponymous novella), and others.
