Eduard Kochergin has been the permanent chief artist of the Large Drama Theatre named after G. A. Tovstonogov since 1971. Lately, he has also become known as a writer. His first book “Angel’s Doll” (2003) immediately caused a sensation in literary circles and was awarded the Tsarskoye Selo Art Prize. In 2010, Kochergin became the winner of the prestigious literary award “National Bestseller” (for “Crosstrained,” “Kreschyonnye krestami”), in 2011— the Sergei Dovlatov Literary Prize “For achievements in contemporary domestic prose,” and in 2014— the new literary prize “Theatrical Novel” (for “Notes of a Pavement Rat”).
