Description
Stephen Leacock is widely known for his absurdist, humorous, and satirical works. His first writing experience was a student newspaper. Leacock wrote short stories to support his financial situation, but the stories soon brought him much more than he had expected. In the period from 1915 to 1925, he was one of the most popular English-language writers. His talent is often compared to that of Mark Twain and Jerome K. Jerome. In total, Leacock published 61 books. In 1946, the Leacock Award for the best humorous work was established in Canada (winners are awarded the Leacock Medal).
