Young people love each other. They’ve just gotten married and are wildly happy, dreaming of a calm family life. They’re expecting a child. The husband—an officer/navigator on a long-distance voyage—goes on a lengthy foreign trip with stops at overseas ports. After some time, the wife receives a telegram saying that her husband was seriously injured in an accident in the Japanese port of Otaru and is in the hospital; he will need several operations. Together they will face many trials to overcome everything and learn again how to be happy. The story is based on real events. All names have been changed; any resemblance to real living people is coincidental.
