In the mid-1950s, Chinese intelligence faces an extraordinarily complex code belonging to the enemy. So complex that none of their cryptographers can decrypt it. Then agents are sent to every corner of the country to find young people—exceptionally gifted in mathematics. So, at Ning Zhou University, they finally find someone capable of deciphering the code. It’s a young man, Rong Jиньчжэнь, whose life has only three favorite activities: counting ants, eating dumplings, and solving math problems. Now he is recruited into the Cryptography Department of China’s secret services, division 701, where he is tasked with breaking the elusive “Purple Code.” What will come of all this?
