Description
Two ordinary women, Plyusha and Natali, live next door in a typical five-story building at the edge of a field where, at the end of the thirties, the Poles were executed.

Among those executed, people believe, was the Orthodox priest Foma Golembovsky, a Pole who had converted to Orthodoxy—and whom they intend to canonize. Plyusha, working at the city museum of repression, studies his manuscripts. These manuscripts—including the “Children’s Gospel” written by Father Foma at the beginning of the thirties (where only children act)—form, as it were, a second “layer” of the novel.

What is more in this novel—fantasy or history—each reader will decide for themselves. But the novel is true in the truth that remains after History—only through the artistic gaze.
