Trying to Wake Up

“Trying to Wake Up” is the first example of collaboration between a human and a machine in Russian literature. Pavel Pepperstein, a well-known writer and artist, worked with the ruGPT-3 linguistic model trained on his texts to create 24 stories in which readers can try to guess which of the authors is a human and which is a machine. This collection is an engaging experiment that blends literature and technology, and offers new interpretations of classic plots and motifs. The book raises questions about the role of a writer in a world where technology can imitate human talent—and about the future of literature.
